Viking Morissette

Watching an Alanis Morissette video I had a sudden vision, spurred by her pig-tails no doubt, of a viking warrior woman which touched very deeply at the memories of many viking warrior women I have known. Obviously I don't mean this literally, but neither do I mean it aesthetically. Rather, I mean the spiritual warrior, who has battled through their own emotions to become something more.

My reconnection with Alanis is something rather important for me. Having been very much drawn to her in my younger years, I had become convinced by the 'educated opinion' that the occasional clunky construction or consistant misinterpretation of a certain word (you know what I'm talking about) were more important than the powerful connection I felt to much of her music and many of her lyrics. Yet when I look into her face I see a calm and understanding that can only be achieved through the couragous and utterly perilous battle with the commonly understood self. This is the vision I have of the viking warrior. If the vision arrived without the pigtails, it might have been an amazon.
